The only requirement for joining our 8 week course is a willingness and commitment to engage fully with the programme.  This involves practicing at home between sessions for around 20-40 minutes a day, 6 days a week.  Prior to attending a course we will talk over your needs to make sure that the course is right for you. If you are at all worried about your suitability, please do contact us and we will be happy to discuss this with you.

The home practice will enable you to gain full benefit from the course. Cultivating mindfulness involves being aware of your own direct experience; your thoughts, behaviours and reactions. As with learning any new skill, this awareness takes practice and the more you practice, the more you will notice positive change. We provide audio recordings and exercises to help support your practice.

Bring a yoga mat if you have one and some people also like to bring a blanket or a firm cushion. We have yoga mats, yoga blocks and blankets available;  just let us know what you need when booking on a course.  Loose, comfortable clothes are a good idea for the mindful movements and meditations.

Each session builds on the learning experiences of the previous week so we encourage you, if at all possible, to attend all of the sessions. However, if for some reason you are not able to attend a session, we will email the relevant course material and home practice assignment to you. We can also contact you by phone to discuss the home practice.

Yes! We aim to ensure that the mindful movements and meditations are as accessible as possible and teach various postures to suit individual needs.

Mindfulness practices have their root in Buddhist traditions however, mindfulness is not a religion and the benefits can be enjoyed by anyone from any background, tradition, religion or culture.

We invite everyone to contribute as much or as little of their own experiences as they feel comfortable with. Each week there is an opportunity to share and reflect on our experiences of the home practice in small groups. We aim to create a supportive and positive environment for discussions and adopt a variety of learning styles to enable everyone to feel included.
